Let’s learn Hiragana!

In this project, I conceptualized and executed an interactive Hiragana learning workbook designed explicitly for children. Titled "Let’s Learn Hiragana" the workbook serves as an engaging introduction to the Japanese alphabet.

The idea for this project came from a friend of mine who was an exchange student from Japan studying in Slovakia.

She had a solid idea and came up with the structure of the workbook, I was tasked with designing an inviting and captivating experience for both children and adults who wanted to learn the first Japanese alphabet.

I chose red to be the dominant colour in this project as it is easy to recognize and when combined with white and black it catches the eye in a nice way and helps bringing the focus to the important bits.

We really tried to create a very clean and straightforward experience of learning the alphabet and I believe we’ve succeeded in this venture.

This project was a great experience for me as a designer since it forced me to work in a team and I really enjoyed the communication and brainstorming ideas together with going over different drafts and working out the little details.

Projects like these really teach the attention to detail but mostly designing something that is functional and usable.
